Task 1 C228 V3 Name Western Governors University (B) Needs Assessment Sentinel City is a virtual community simulation that I am using to write this report. There are 12 photos of this city that will be attached. Demographics Sentinel City has an estimated population of 663,862 people divided up among four different communities (Sentinel City, 2018). This population is approximately 80.6% Caucasian, 10.4% African American, 2% Native American, 3.7% Asian, 0.2% Pacific Islander, 3.1% are two or more races (Hispanics are included in these race categories as they may be of any race) (Sentinel City, 2018). The communities in Sentinel City are Industrial Heights, Nightingale Square, Casper Park District, and Acer Tech Center (Sentinel City, 2018). The ethnicity breakdown in these communities is as follows: Industrial Heights is primarily Hispanic or Latino at 46.8% of the community with 13.1% being African American out of a population of 38,855; Nightingale Square is primarily Caucasian at 81.3% with 3.7% being Hispanic or Latino out of a population of 103,974; Casper Park District is primarily Caucasian at 63% and has approximately 24% Hispanic or Latino out of a population of 352,643; and, finally, Acer Tech Center is primarily Caucasian at 70.2% and Hispanic or Latinos at 13.7% out of a population of 168,390 (Sentinel City, 2018). The age of the population in Sentinel City is approximately 7.4% being under the age of 5 years old, 21.7% being under the age of 18 years old, and 10.5% being 65 years of age or older (Sentinel City, 2018). That means that approximately 60.4% of the population is between the ages of 19 and 64. In age bracket breakdown among the communities is as follows: Industrial Heights has approximately 10.9% under 5 years of age, 20.8% under 18 years of age, 0.9% are 65 years of age or order, and 67.4% between the ages of 19 and 64; Nightingale Square has approximately 2.4% under 5 years of age, 5.9% under 18 years of age, 13.9% are 65 years or older, and 77.8% are between the ages of 19 and 64; Casper Park District has approximately 10.9% under 5 years of age, 33.8% under 18 years of age, 6.5% are 65 years of age or older, and 48.8% between the ages of 19 and 64; and, finally, Acer Tech Center has approximately 4.1% under 5 years of age, 7.0% under 18 years of age, 19.8% are 65 years of age or older, and 69.1% are between the ages of 19 and 64 (Sentinel City, 2018).
