Discussion #3 1. When taking care of patients, why do you think it is important to utilize the appropriate resources? As a nurse handling patients, it is very important to utilize the appropriate resources because it is a matter of life and death. Applying the appropriate resources improves the quality of patient care and reduces error. It’s also important knowing how to utilize appropriate resource to enhance our knowledge in health care field. 2. How do you think evidence from nursing journals affects patient care? Evidence from nursing journals affects patient care in many different ways. Keeping us with nursing journals is the best way of remaining updated with the advancements in the medical field. The evidence based process is a method that allows the practitioner to assess research, clinical guidelines, and other information resources based on high quality findings and apply the results to practice. 3. What role does using the right evidence play in being a professional nurse? Medical technology changes are quick and extreme; it is vital for the nurses to keep up with the hospital evidence-based care to provide up to date proficient treatment. The role of using the right evidence plays a huge role in being a professional nurse. The nurses are informed about the latest research and advances being made in the medical field. Nursing journals keep nurses knowledgeable about new treatments, medications, alternative patient care, and technology that is helpful for providing advanced care for patients. 4. What role does understanding plagiarism and academic integrity play in being a professional nurse? Complete understanding of plagiarism and academic integrity are important in every aspect of our lives especially in sensitive fields such as nursing. Not knowing the material and getting it from another source without learning it, will haunt you later on in life when dealing with real life patients. I strongly believe that if we cheat our way through nursing school, we will not be extraordinary nurses.
