NURSING 3365 - Exam 3 Review.
NURSING 3365 - Exam 3 Review. The function of Insulin is to decrease the blood glucose level by facilitating the transfer the glucose inside cells We have different types of insulin formulations and so we know the different types are basically just because of difference in time they start working, time they peak or if they peak at all, and how long they are active in body. Patients with type 1 diabetes must have insulin and patients with type 2 diabetes might need insulin later down the road because if they have it for many years, the pancreas gives out. Initially, pancreas does still produce some insulin, but not enough to keep things under control, so they get all medicines. After they have type 2 diabetes for a while, the pancreas falls, and they will need insulin.
