Ebola virus disease (EVD) is a high mortality, hemorrhagic disease which fortunately has only occasional outbreaks. These outbreaks occur primarily on the African continent. The Ebola virus is a disease that results in an acute, life threatening illness. If Ebola virus is not in caught early and aggressively treated with supportive therapies, the likely outcome is death. The first two outbreaks of the Ebola virus disease (EVD) initially occurred in Africa in 1976. The countries involved where Nzara in the South Sudan, and the other in Yambuku, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
