The hexagonal honeycomb made by bees to contain their
larvae and store honey and pollen has long been admired
as one of nature's architectural marvel.

Note that the surface of honeycombs have a
characteristic texture that looks like gaps or air spaces
separated by thick segments.
In fibrosis of the lungs, the lung tissue becomes damaged
and scarred. The fibrotic lungs exhibit a similar
appearance with variable sized cystic air spaces
separated by thick fibrotic walls as depicted in the image
below.
