Life of pi b y Yann Martel
,Before reading:
I think it is a book about a boy, who is in India. On the cover it looked like he was on a
boat with a tiger, so he probably was on a bigger boat with more animals, but it sunk.
So it will be about an adventure about how he will return to the rest of his animals
and family.
,Author’s note:
He travelled to India, like he did before, that was for five months, in the north of
India. The first time he was there, he was joking around with the people who lived
there. He did that with the word ‘bamboozled’. The second time he was there, he
was there to write a novel, but the novel died. It wasn’t emotionally enough, it was
soul-destroying. He did mail his failed novel later that day.
Then a man said to him; ‘I have a story that will you make believe in God’ (page 9).
He hesitated but said yes to it, and then he listened to the story and wrote everything
down. The man told about a garden and trains. He said that he should meet the main
character, so he did. He called him and they met a couple times. And it was true. The
story did make you believe in God.
, Chapter 1, 2 and 3:
He was studying zoology, and the story begins with natal about the habitats of sloths.
He also tells about his experience with sloths in Brazil. All the things with sloths did
him think about God, that’s because he also studies religious. He had lain in the
hospital of Mexico, and once someone heard his story they all wanted to meet him
and they give him gifts like food.
A man is described, his appearance but also what he did.
He had a brother named Ravi, who was a bit of a joker sometimes. Mamaji was a man
who loves to swim, and he wanted to learn him how to swim at the age of seven, but
he almost drowned during his first lesson claimed his mother. So they started slowly.
They practiced the movements and later they would swim three times a week in the
pool. Then he talked about pools and how the hygiene in France us very low to him,
because of the glory of the Piscine Molitor. Why he loves this is because he is named
after pool in French ‘piscine’.
