Assignment B – Teacher Language
This document should not be more than 3 pages long, including this page; approximately 700-1000
words in total.
a) Presentation
You do not need to show the entire presentation, but show us some of the language you would use to
elicit the target language from the context you have chosen, elicit the form, and concept check.

Show the Actual Words you would use for:

i) Eliciting the Target Language from the Context
T: Well done, everyone. All of you have great plans for the weekend. Some more relaxed, and other
more active. So, who is playing soccer on Saturday?
Mario: Me.
T: How active, Mario! So, you will be outdoors. Who will you play soccer with?
Mario: I will play soccer with my friends.
T: Very nice. And what happens if it starts to rain? What will you do then?
S: I will stay at home.
T: Awesome. Can someone tell me what form Mario used in this sentence?
S: He used present simple.
T: Correct. Thank you. What kind of weather will you play soccer in, Mario?
Mario: In sunny weather.
T: And what if the weather changes? Will you be playing soccer then?
M: Not if it rains.
T: That makes sense. You don’t want to play in the rain and then get sick. So, your weekend plans
depend on the weather?
S: Yes.
T: Okay. When your plans depend on a possible situation that is likely to change it is called a condition.
So, in this case:

*Writes sentence on board, see Board Plan*
Okay, so, how would we start our sentence to make it more meaningful? (If students don’t have a clue,
I will further elicit) Let me give you a clue: the sentence starts with an “if”. (See Board Plan).

(I write:) If…
So now we fill in what we do know so far: If …. on Saturday, …. play soccer with my friends. Does
anyone know what goes into the empty spaces?

S: If it’s sunny on Saturday?
T: Yes! If it’s sunny on Saturday… What will Mario do?
S: He will play soccer with his friends.
