Question 1
Ethnocentrism is defined as the evaluation of other cultures according to preconceptions
originating in the standards and customs of one's own culture. In psychology,
Ethnocentrism refers to a tendency to use your own culture as the standard by which to
judge and evaluate other cultures. Ethnocentrism also encompasses the belief in the
inherent superiority of one's own ethnic group of culture, in other words, thinking your culture
is better than the rest. An example of ethnocentrism in culture is the Asian cultures where
the preferred way of eating is to use chopsticks with every meal, as opposed to using forks.
