For students to understand how to use the first conditional when
speaking about events that are likely to happen.

To Show the difference in use between present simple and future
Lesson Type: Grammar Lesson Aims: simple

Provide controlled, free and freer practice of the first conditional in
this function.

Students will self discover meaning form and function through
eliciting while discussing their future goals.

A2 (Late elementary/ Students will learn the correct pronunciation through drilling
Level of Class: pre-intermediate) Lesson Objectives:
Students will practice using the first conditional by applying it to a
Teenagers (14-16 years old) different “profession” to what they first chose.

Students will speak about their goals and objectives freely while using
the first conditional.
Students would already understand terminology for creating form
(Subject+if+infinitive etc.)

Nationality/First Students are already familiar with using common verbs in the present
Chinese Assumed Knowledge:
Language: simple, present continuous and past simple.

They would also be familiar with the use of “will” for future events.

own language to explain the concept might be difficult for them to
understand.

I will grade my language accordingly on what would be best
understood.

Students might find it hard to grasp the difference in conditionals and
when to use them.
Solution :
I will explain how probability will influence which conditional to use

Students might struggle in identifying contractions eg. Don’t He’ll

I will first present the sentences without using contractions and then
later explain where it would be best to use them.

Students may get tempted to switch back to their native language
when having difficulties
Solution :
I will be sure to keep diverting the conversation back to English and
encourage them to keep trying.
