, Introduction
Carl R.Trueman(2011) said that we need a critical theory that seeks to change the
world by challenging the world and I agree because without challenges their can’t be
growth and I think that is the best way for teachers to learn and can truly help their
learners. Eliphas Levi said that a good teacher must be able to put himself in the
place of those who find learning hard. If a teacher can do this I personally think that
this ability will help him or her become a great teacher as he or she can identify why
leaners doesn’t understand and see things from the learners perspective.
The objective of this assignment is to discuss what it takes to become a teacher.
This objective will be achieved by firstly discussing critical theory in the South African
context and then and the important details that goes hand-in hand with becoming a
teacher and describing the five types of curricula. Thereafter I will reflect on CAPS
and assessment and evaluating. Lastly I will look at the most common intrinsic and
extrinsic barriers to learning in the South African context. What positive impact he or
she had on me also my least favourite teacher and the negative impact he or she
had on me. I’ll conclude this assignment with my own opinion on critical theory and
the other important aspects to becoming a teacher that is being discussed in this
assignment.
