● Discuss the questions that would be important to include when interviewing a patient with this issue. When interviewing a patient with a vague CC of abdominal pain, the location of the pain is of great significance. The location can provide more clues about cause of the pain to help narrow the DD and not miss a potentially life-threatening disease. Other questions would include o Pain onset, duration, character, aggravating/alleviating factors, radiation, timing and severity on a 10 scale. o Are you sexually active? How many partners? Contraception/barrier methods? o STIs? o Pregnancies? Abortions? o Menarche o LMP? Regularity? o Is pain related to your period? o Any other associated symptoms with the pain? Fever? Bowel changes? o Medications taken (prescribed/OTC) o Hx of this problem before? How was it managed? o Any ideas on what may be causing the pain? o Any trauma or surgeries to the area? o Do you feel safe at home? IPV? o Tell me how things have been at home/work?
