What to expect on the science section: types of passages—ANSWER---
data representation: 30-40% (three to four passages like this)
- research summaries: 45-55% (three to four passages like this)
- conflicting viewpoints: 15-20% (probably only one passage like this)
Think of the science section as a puzzle or riddle that you have to figure
out—ANSWER--The focus is on interpreting data and information and
making logical conclusions- NOT on knowing specific scientific facts
It is important to be FLEXIBLE and to be able to SHIFT GEARS when doing
this section. In other words, if one method of solving a question doesn't
work, try another. If looking at one piece of information doesn't help you,
look in a different place—ANSWER--With all the information put in front of
you and only 35 minutes to answer all of the questions, the science section
can seem overwhelming. The most important thing you can do to conserve
time is to orient yourself by using the headlines on the charts, graphs, and
tables. Pretend you're shopping at an unfamiliar grocery store; look at the
