How are values formed? How do they influence our attitudes toward work and others? Values are a mixture of our experiences with humans and with the environment we find ourselves. Most of the times, values are imposed from where you grow up, in childhood and is reinforced through our interactions with others and culture. It can also be formed through friends and peers, media, religion, history, etc. Values have a great influence on the kind of judgments we make and how we relate and work with people. Working with people of different values can create conflict and impact on our relationships with fellow staffs. Values also influence our leadership style and behavior (Makin, 2014). In the workers’ perspective, why are perceptions their reality?
