“The shift to the new millennium’s styles of teaching and learning is one big challenge for the
educators at present. Technology has become an essential part of education so classrooms today
are equipped with computers. Computers are provided to students to get help and knowledge
online and make assignments. Integration of technology does bring a lot of challenges to teachers.
Teachers already feel naïve when it comes to technology and students in this age are digital
natives. With the available technology students somehow finds their way out to misuse the
technology which is one big concern of educators.” *

Summary:
Technology, as well as the generations we see coming and going in and out of the classrooms, is ever
changing. As soon as you feel like you have become accustomed, something new peeks its head
from around the corner, and we – as teachers – are back to square one.
In certain parts of the world, technology has become an essential part of education. In other parts
it’s still a starting point to introduce the concept of technology in classrooms (South Africa for
example).
The gap in the technological developed era between most educators and students cause a significant
amount of problems, due to the lack of knowledge regarding the technology from the educators’
side.
Along with all the perks of technology – like making life easier and more comfortable and accessible
– there are certain downfalls. Misuse of technology is a common occurrence in the youth of today.
This varies from situations and intricacy and to what advantage it is to the misuser. Educators are
the ones who suffer the most – due to the misuse of technology.
