different organisations. The Police department have asked for a report on the sampling and analytical techniques carried
out to identify evidence material found at a crime scene. You have been asked to produce a detailed PowerPoint report to
be used in the training of existing staff unfamiliar with the techniques used. The presentation is based upon the sampling

, • A body has been found in the middle of the grassed, football field in Eastfield
Park, Northampton. This is an area which is composed of grassland (60%),
deciduous woodland (20%) and two lakes (20%). Forensic investigators now
must determine the cause and location of death.
• Evidence was collected through a variety of methods soil-(brushing &
sieving); pollen- (taping and swabbing), diatom- (scraping and sampling) and
has been brought to the lab for analysis.
• Your job as a Biolab Solutions employee is to carry out the sampling &
analytical techniques on the three categories and complete the information
in the report.
 You must make sure that you collect and record the
following to include in the report for soil, pollen & diatom.
