Tribute speech
Good [morning/afternoon/evening] everyone,
Today, I would like to dedicate my speech to the person who has not only transformed
the world but also encouraged millions of people to believe in the possibility of the change,
education, and having the purpose in life – Malala Yousafzai. Malala is a young woman from
Pakistan who fights for girls’ right to education and Nobel Peace Prize laureate. She is a very
strong woman who did not back down even in the face of violence and she is a strong advocate
of girl child education.
What stand out with Malala is her story and the courage she displayed at her tender age.
She is only 15 years old but she was once shot by the Taliban for demanding her right to
education. Instead of being silenced, she stood up even more powerfully—speaking at the United
Nations, founding the Malala Fund, authoring a successful memoir, and carrying on her fight for
girls’ education. Malala’s strength transformed a single incidence of violence into a global
campaign against injustice, gender discrimination, and denial of education to girls.
Malala’s achievements are not limited to the awards and speeches only. She has proved
to the world that one cannot be restricted by age, gender or background to bring about change.
Her strength, intelligence, and poise have made her receive admiration from all over the world
and support education for girls in over eight countries. She remains a strong advocate for the
oppressed and a fighter for the rights of the marginalized in the society.
Therefore, I encourage all of you listening today: let Malala’s courage make us
understand that even the smallest voice can be heard around the globe. We should follow her
