Obesity Rates in Adults: Although it remains elevated, the prevalence of
adult obesity is less than the average in the state. Benton has a 25% obesity rate
compared to the 29% average for the state of Oregon (County Health Ranking &
Roadmaps, 2020).

Heavy Alcohol Consumption: Informing Benton residents about the health risks
associated with excessive use of alcohol is one of the improvement objectives.
Data on death rates and the effects of alcohol on people's bodies need to be
demonstrated through education. Additionally, drunk driving might result in car
accidents. Reducing the intake of alcohol for all residents is the intended health
result. This is to ensure that their bodies may begin to recover, and health
disparities brought on by binge drinking are eliminated.
STDs: Teaching residents how to avoid STDs is one of the improvement goals.
The people who now have the diseases need to be educated on how to manage
their conditions. Children/teenagers in school should be taught how to take
precautions if they are sexually active. Less people in Benton getting STDs is the
intended health impact. It is up to us to assist these individuals to overcome their
health concerns. There are several drugs available to treat these types of
infections that can be very beneficial.
Obesity Rates in Adults: Obesity Rates in Adults: Teaching all residents
everything that can be done to lower the rate of obesity in the community is
the objective. People need to be informed from preschool until adulthood. When
kids begin to take better care of themselves at an early age, they can lower their
risk of obesity as they become older. It is the responsibility of schools to inform
both adults and their children about the availability and types of healthy foods
available. Reducing childhood and adult rates of obesity in the local population is
the intended health result in order to prolong life and prevent the development of
diseases.
Accessible Food Sources: Informing Benton, Oregon residents on where to buy
healthy food options is one of the improvement goals. Parents along with
their children require education. Monthly openings of food pantries allow the
public the opportunity to get healthier goods from their stock. Benton residents
