medical record number (MRN) - Answer-This is the overall patient demographics and medical history
across ambulatory and hospital services.
HAR- Hospital Account Record - Answer-This record houses all the information pertaining to the hospital
account. This record stores what is being billed and what has already been billed. HAR is dependent on
nothing and everything is dependent on the HAR.
Every appointment has to have a HAR. We bundle up same date of service visits (depending on the
revenue location) and send them in one claim.
CSN- Contact Serial Number - Answer-This is the record associated with each visit the patient has.
Multiple CSN's may be housed on one hospital account. Both Ambulatory and Hospital departments use
this.
DATE FORMATS - Answer-MMDDYY, MM/DD/YY, OR SELECT FROM CALENDAR
TIME format - Answer-1300, 1p, 1, or 1:00
T (TODAY) shortcut - Answer-t equals today's date
t+1 equals tomorrow's date
t-1 equals yesterday's date
t-3 equals the date three days ago, and so forth
,M (MONTH) shortcut - Answer-m+1 equals the date one month from today (for example, if
today is June 24, m+1 = July 24)
m-1 equals the date one month ago today, and so forth
MB (MONTH BEGINNING) shortcut - Answer-mb equals the first day of the current month
mb+1 equals the date one month from the first of this month
mb-1 equals the date one month earlier than the first of this
month, and so forth
ME (MONTH END) shortcut - Answer-me equals the last day of the current month
me+1 equals the date one month from the last day of this
month
me-1 equals the date one month earlier than the last day of
this month, and so forth
W (WEEK) shortcut - Answer-w+1 equals the date one week from today
w-1 equals the date one week ago today, and so forth
Y (YEAR) shortcut - Answer-y+1 equals the date one year from today

Accessing the Appointment Desk from Registration - Answer-1. Use the appointment desk icon on the
Registration tool bar.
2. You can click on your EPIC button to access your activity menu, then Scheduling > Appts
, Future (tab in appt desk) - Answer-This tab shows appointments that are on the schedule for today and
into the future
past (tab in appt desk) - Answer-This tab shows Visits that are in the past as well as all cancelled
appointments
referrals (tab in appt desk) - Answer-This tab shows referrals that have been entered by one
provider/department, requesting them to be seen by another
provider/department. Referrals will remain in this tab until they Expire.
Active Requests (tab in appt desk) - Answer-This shows any orders that are still pending scheduling
Finalized Requests (tab in appt desk) - Answer-This tab shows orders that have either been completed
or canceled.
Book It - Answer-Click to schedule appointments. Allows you to schedule multiple visits simultaneously
walk in - Answer-Allows you to schedule an appointment then launches the check in activity.
request -> appt request - Answer-Request:Allows you to sent Appt Requests to Schedulers
reports - Answer-Allows you to select the PT Recalls, Referral Action, and Wait List reports.
patient options - Answer-Allows you to select the Comm Prefs, Flags, FYI, Patient Messages,
PCP/Care Teams, Main Registration Encounter, Scheduling Preferences, Send Patient Message, and Visit
Type Modifiers activities.
