Time: 7 Hours STUDENT INSTRUCTIONS FOR VIRTUAL CLINICAL REPLACEMENT This activity packet is intended to be used with your assigned virtual patient found in vSim. The Six Step learn flow in vSim is to be followed as instructed below. Once you have completed the Six Steps, in addition to this Clinical Replacement Activity Packet, submit for grading as instructed in your syllabus. LEARN FLOW - STEP ONE Finish the Suggested Readings, then complete the following four activities: Clinical Worksheet ISBAR Worksheet LEARN FLOW – STEP TWO Take the Pre-Simulation Quiz Student may take several times using the answer key to provide immediate remediation prior to the virtual simulation. Quiz is recorded as complete. LEARN FLOW – STEP THREE Launch the virtual simulation It is expected that every student watches the “vSim Tutorial” (must use Explorer or Firefox to view) to learn to navigate the program. Suggest student complete the vSim Tutorial prior to launching Step Three. Each clinical experience in the simulation lasts a maximum of 30 minutes. Student is to complete the simulation as many times as it takes to meet an 80% benchmark. LEARN FLOW – STEP FOUR Complete the Post-Quiz The answer key is not visible to the student until after they have submitted the quiz. The quiz grade is recorded as a percentage LEARN FLOW – STEP FIVE Document The student documents the clinical events that occurred during the simulation in EHR Tutor using the information contained in step five.Last Updated 2/25/2021 2 | P a g e vSim for Nursing LEARN FLOW – STEP SIX Reflection Questions Students are to complete the reflection questions and submit to instructor post clinical replacement via Moodle (see syllabus for details).Last Updated 2/25/2021 3 | P a g e vSim for Nursing GRADING AND SYLLABI VERBIAGE FROM SYLLABI The online interactive virtual simulations are designed to help you develop clinical decision-making skills, competence, and confidence in a realistic environment to meet the clinical objectives for the course. vSim is a requirement for this course. The virtual simulation will take place as outlined in the clinical schedule. Instructors will designate specific VSim to assist in meeting the clinical objectives. The clinical schedule will list the name of the simulation and due date (end of your clinical day). Virtual clinical (vSim assignments) are pass/fail. The total points for clinical replacement is outlined below. A score of 80% is required prior to the due date to receive a “pass” for that clinical day. See the Moodle homepage for link to “vSim Clinical Replacement Package” for grading rubrics and directions for assignments. All completed assignments must be turned into the designated Moodle drop-box by the end of the clinical day. Clinical assignments will be graded using the rubrics below. You may take the VSim as many times as you want to get a passing score. The student can earn a portion of the total points available based on the work that has been completed. Work submitted after the due date will receive no credit and will be recorded as a failing grade for the clinical day.
