The legal profession is criticized for lacking diversity and is largely male, white, heterosexual, able-bodied, and middle class. This is true because there is only one woman in the supreme court of UK and no one from minority groups. The reasons aren’t simple.

As a position of privilege in the society, lawyers hold legal knowledge which is almost holding legal power. It is also a big business that brings about £32,000 million in the UK alone. But it’s not easy, because being lawyers mean being professional. Being professionals, certain level of professionalism is to be maintained.

Lawyers owe few obligations to their profession that is enshrined in their Codes of Conduct. For solicitors, the SRA Code of conduct 2011 lay down principles to act with integrity, not to allow their independence to be compromised and to maintain trust of their clients on them and their profession.
