1944 Percentages Agreement
Referred to as the ‘Naughty Document’ (it decided the future of other
countries without their say)
Churchill signed this agreement to try and fight Stalin’s power whilst
keeping him on side (war wasn’t over yet)
In helping countries to be Sphere of influence- when a big country
‘free’, he takes over the has a huge influence over an area
government (to help
liberate), giving him power
to dominate.
How was Soviet control over Eastern Europe established?
The Yalta conference gave Russia control
Leaders of other parties started to go missing
Gradually increased influence over other parties then
invaded
Built up coalition governments (merged parties)
This was used as a smoke shield!
Used the ‘Red Army’ to spread terror
Secret police were dressed in plain clothing etc

Used the Red Army to keep control
Rigged the 1946 election
