Start of reign- 1547 • Henry VIII made a court/council that w
balanced with Protestants and Catholi
help advise the young king- in Henry V
will- but noble families under-represen
so the council didn’t last long
• Started his reign on 28th January 1547
(called the crisis of the mid-Tudor perio
• Edward Seymore Earl of Hertford beca
protector (protectorate) of Seymore
(somerset) so was acting king while Ed
was a minor (Edwards great-uncle)
• Lots of potential problems (religion, la
finance, debased coin/inflation, crown
off monastic properties.
