P3, M3 Security

In this assignment I am going to be describing and explaining the different types of security measures
used in maintaining the security of people, premises and property. There are three main types of
security measures which are; physical, electronic and preventative. Security measures are implemented
in order to protect the base and those who are inside of it. It also minimises the risk of attacks.

The first and initial form of security I am going to be talking about it perimeter fencing. Fencing is the
first form of security that people will notice because it secures and locks of the surrounding area. There
are different types of fencing that can be used. Two examples are Barbed wire and high fences, which
can be used to delay, disrupt and slow down an enemy. Spotlights can effectively work with perimeter
fencing because they can be placed along it. Spotlights can also take away an enemy’s ability to use
darkness as cover and it acts as a deterrent.

Electronic measures are another form of security. These systems are designed to protect the contents
inside. A few examples of electronic measures are; remote locking systems, ID systems, key
management systems, alarms and scanning systems. Key pads are mainly used on doors which require
and extra level of security, rather than just having a regular door which anyone could use. It can also be
