Purpose

 Working in a caring capacity, the understanding of the
psychological perspectives and how they can be applied to
Health and Social Care settings is important.
 My investigation for the need of a new, larger therapy and
counseling centre for the service users in my locality from my
workplace entertainment. This PowerPoint will show how
psychological approached can be applied to both health and
social practice.

Behaviourist Perspective
 The Behaviourist approach looks at how behaviour is learnt by
our environment and experiences through interaction.
 New behaviour is learnt through classical conditioning where a
new stimulus creates a new response and where an individual
learns by association.
 As well as operant conditioning where is focuses more on the
positive and negative reinforcement as an action has a
consequence.

Behaviourist Perspective
 The Behaviourist approach understand challenging behaviour as
well as changing and shaping behaviour. With applying it to the
setting where classical conditioning which is useful helping
change such behaviours like phobic behaviour, takes place for an
elderly woman who may never her home. Which causes her to
become depressed and isolated due to her agoraphobia where
she has the fear of going out. A used method of changing phobic
behaviour of systematic desensitisation where it treats acquired
fears.
 Also with shaping behaviour where the use of operant
conditioning with creating new and helpful behaviours to eliminate
inappropriate and unhelpful behaviours. The use of reinforcement
impacts a individuals behaviour massively.
