P4 M2 - Unit 4 Managing an event
The events we initially produced were the 4 events of doing a sporting event, an equality
and diversity event, food sales event and an entertainment event. The reason we as a group
did not pick a sporting event is after doing a SWOT analysis, we found out that it could be
too unique or common, we also thought that it would not have a unique selling point. We
also found that it could have problems such as the weather or season would not fit for that
event as it is based on an outdoor event. We also discussed and thought that we would
find doing an equality and diversity event would be hard since there is a lot of bias and it is
not a popular option for most people might not be interested in, as the money will be going
to charity, we thought that we will not make much profit. We thought that holding a food
sale event would be difficult as it is not reliable which means that there could be bad
things occurring unexpectedly. It also will not fit the budget we have since food sales
events can be expensive. You also need to get your food tested and we thought that it
would be a long process.
We have decided to an entertainment charity event, this is where we have different games,
but we are definite on a particular game to do. This is a wet sponge game; this is where you
have someone you can pick to have them hang into a place where we will make it out of
wood. We then get people to pay us to throw a sponge at the chosen person’s face. This
event will take place around the time of January, we are thinking of doing it either outside
on the field of the college or in the sports hall. Depending on the weather and our final
decision we will decide where to have the event. We plan to make this event the best we
can with the entertainment we plan to do. Anyone in the college can participate in this
event, from teachers to students. We will try to make this very enjoyable so that there is a
lot of inclusivity for those who will participate. We believe that this is a popular fun choice.
A lot of people will participate in the other games we will be doing such as a crossbar or
penalty shootout challenge, which is an exceedingly popular choice, and this will bring a
lot of people to want and join. We as a group believe that this will be a realistic event, as it
has huge popularity, we believe that we will hit all our aims and objectives.
One of the aims and objectives we have thought of is the raise funds for charity. The aim is
to generate a significant amount of money to support the charity’s mission. Where the
objective is achieving a fundraising target of at least above £100 through ticket sales and
other extras. This will help fund specific costs of the charity. Another aim and objective are
the aim being to educate the attendees about the charity’s mission and the issues it
addresses. As we are planning to give to a charity towards Palestine, we will educate them
about the issues going on and emphasise how important it is. An objective for this would
be to provide information to make sure that at least 80% of the attendees leave with a
, better understanding of the charity’s work and the impact of their contributions. Another
aim would be to offer an enjoyable and memorable experience for all attendees. Following
this an objective for this would secure feedback of this from at least 90% of attendees, we
will be doing two sorts of surveys one before coming into the event and one after the event
has finished about how they found the event, from this one we will find out how successful
are event really was. Another aim and objective which will relating to more of our physical
activities such as the penalty or crossbar challenges, which will require a lot of moving.
The aim would be to encourage participants to engage in physical activities and promote a
healthy lifestyle. The objective would be to organise at least 2-3 different physical
challenges, such as penalty shootouts and pull-up bar challenges, with a participation rate
of at least 70% of attendees. The last aim and objective would be making the activities
inclusive for all ages, so the aim would be to offer an enjoyable experience for attendees of
all ages. An objective for this is to organise a variety of activities suitable for the college’s
student’s age group and adults, ensuring that at least 70% of people attending report a
high level of satisfaction with the event.
I believe that the first aim and objective which is to raise funds for charity and to earn a
good amount of money. This is achievable as from the variety of activities we will be doing
it will help us earn a lot of money. The second aim and objective are to educate the
attendees coming and to make sure majority of the attendees of leaving after getting
educated about the situation. That is achievable because we are going to be having
choosing Palestine as our charity, and we will be able to educate people well. Overall, all
the aim and objectives are achievable since we have plans in place to make sure they are
achievable, and they can be done, as we want this event to run smoothly and successfully,
we will make sure that the objectives and aims are achievable.
Yes, the objectives are SMART, since the first aim being fundraising for charity, it fits all the
SMART objectives. For example, in the first objective it hits the measurable objective y it
saying to hit at least £100. Another objective that hits all the SMART objectives is educating
attendees. It hits all the objectives, so for example the achievable part of this is that we will
educate them with proper informational materials and presentations this is feasible.
Another objective that shows that it hits all SMART objectives is providing an enjoyable
experience. It hits all the SMART objectives, for example, time bound it shown from the
feedback that will be collected before and after the event. Another objective that shows
that the aims and objectives for the event hits all the SMART objectives is to promote
physical activities. For example, the relevant of the SMART objective it shown from
promotes a healthy lifestyle. The last objective also hits all the SMART objectives, which is
the aim of inclusivity for all ages. For example, the specific part of the SMART objective is
shown in this aim from that we will offer activities for all ages.
