My name is Detective Chief Inspector Meredith Banks, Senior Investigating Officer assigned
to the homicide investigation under case reference CR-041025-ALM, concerning the fatal
stabbing of Mr. Alistair Grant on 24 April 2025 at approximately 22:15 hours. I am providing
this statement to summarise the interview conducted with Ms. Emma Carr, who has been
identified as a relevant witness in this case.
On 26 April 2025 at 14:10 hours, I conducted a formal, recorded interview with Ms. Emma
Louise Carr at Kensington Police Station. Ms. Carr voluntarily attended and confirmed she
had been romantically involved with the deceased, Alistair Grant, from approximately mid-
February 2025. She stated that she met Mr. Grant at a professional event and that their
relationship developed over several weeks, during which he informed her that his current
relationship with the defendant, Ms. Samantha Rowe, was deteriorating.
During the interview, Ms. Carr explained that Mr. Grant had indicated an intention to end
his relationship with Ms. Rowe. She stated that he appeared emotionally conflicted but
never expressed fear of physical retaliation. According to Ms. Carr, the last communication
she had with Mr. Grant was on the afternoon of 24 April 2025. He allegedly informed her via
message that he planned to speak with Ms. Rowe that evening to "end things for good."
Ms. Carr reported no direct contact with Ms. Rowe and stated she was unaware that Ms.
Rowe had accessed or discovered any messages until after the incident. Following the
interview, Ms. Carr voluntarily provided access to her text message history with the
deceased, which corroborated key elements of her statement — including the timeline of
