Step Device Procedure Configuration
1 Switch I connected the blue console cable to None
the consoler port on the switch and
also connected the red straight
through cable to the f0/6 port on the
switch.
2 Switch Turn on the power. None
3 PC On the computer I opened Putty, put None
a dot in serial and then pressed
open. This showed the consoler area
of the switch.
4 Switch Enable takes me from one mode to Switch>enable
the next mode in the switch.
Configure terminal gets the switch Switch# configure terminal
into the mode to be able to apply
new settings to the switch.
The command hostname allows me Switch(config)# hostname Headoffice
