Unit 8: Recruitment and selection
M2 and M3
M2- In recruitment interviews demonstrate analytical responses and questioning to allow
assessment of skills and knowledge
In this task I will be discussing and reflection on the role that I practice in from being an interviewer and
in interviewee I would be receiving feedback from my peers and teacher. I also need to explain way that
I could improve my interviewer and need to explain what impact of my preparation had on the
effectiveness of the interview and how it helps me successes.
Reflection on your role as the interviewer
I believe that many things went well as an interviewer as I think I conducted it to the best of my ability.
One of the few things I think went well was that I made the interviewee feel comfortable and relaxed
which helped them answer to the best of their ability. I also managed to interact with the interviewee
on a personal level which helped me get to know them a bit more.
What could you have done better?
I think that the questions I put forward could have been more related to their previous experience. This
would have helped me gather more information on his previous job role and the experience he has had.
I could have asked relating to the candidate’s CV and application form. Another thing that I could have
done better is that I didn’t make eye when I’m taking to the interviewee, which may show that I’m under
pressure because when if I had made eye contact it show that when I communicate with the person it
show that I’m confidence and belief in what my point of view because he or she is more likely to buy the
message I’m sending.
What impact did your preparation have on the effectiveness of the interview?
Having the document pack helped me prepare for the questions I was going to ask. The documents were
job description and person specification. These documents enabled me to ask the correct questions and
relate them to that specific role. The job description helped me analysed what type of job role the
candidate would potentially be taking up and the person specification helped me analyse what type of
skills and experience the candidate needed in order to fill the job role to their fullest potential.
What contribution did the interview pack (documentation) make to the process?
The interview pack played a huge role in the process as it allowed potential candidates to see what type
of job role they would be doing and the responsibilities they would be facing. This would come under
the job description as this would make candidates aware of the job role and possibly help reduce the
number of applicants. Another document in the interview pack was the person specification. This also
contributed to the process as it included the skills and experience the candidate needs to have in order
to be considered. This would help narrow down the number of applicants applying as applicants would
immediately be aware of what they need to have and if they don’t they would not bother applying.
