Task 1

P1: Describe the roles, duties and responsibilities for different categories of holiday
representatives, highlighting changing roles and working practices.

18-30s holidays reps

The rep mostly are in the 20s when working for 18-30 representative. This is because the rep will be
appealing to the 18s to 30s. The job roles that they will have to do is planning daily activities. The
reps will look after their customers when they are on holiday. They must always make sure that they
build good rapport with the customer, be friendly while maintaining a professional attitude. They
will organise activities where the customers can participate in. when the customers come to the
hotel the reps will have little meet and greets where they will get to know about the customers and
build a good rapport with them. The will also tell them the activities that they will be having during
their stay and also put the list of the different activities on the noticeboard, where the customers
could come a check what type of activities they will be having and also at what time. These reps
hardly get time to sleep and will have to be full of stamina. Since they will be dealing with many
parties with a age group from 18-30 there will be alcohols and other different things involved, the
reps have to make sure to stay sober at all times since they will even have to maintain the company
image. There could 6 be injuries, fights, thefts and other problems that the reps have to be prepared
to solve. They will have to deal with complains and other issues. The reps will also have their own
groups of people where they can look after their own group and there would be less hassle. There
are also paperwork’s that they reps would have to fill and also do risk assessments. These
representative can use informal language when they are talking to their customer.

To the customer- the main thing that the 18-30s rep will have to do is meet and greet with the
customer. They will need to build a good rapport with them since they will be looking after the
customers and they need to know them. They will also need to have welcome meetings with their
guests. Since it is a 18-30s group there will be many young people and they reps will have to manage
the groups, each rep will get a certain amount of people in the group that they will have to look after
which will be less of a hassle. Since there will be alcohol involved the reps will have to try and remain
sober at all times since there could be any emergency situations where they will have to deal with it.

To the organisations- the reps will have to be professional at all times since they will be representing
the company and its image. They can also use informal language.

To the supplier-they will sell the customers packages such as day trips or short excursions to enjoy
that were supplied by the excursions companies. Also when they have to go to different areas thy
might use a coach in that case the supplier will offer that with a coach.



Children’s representative

These types of reps have to have a clean criminal record since there will be a background check
before they are recruited for the job. They will also need to have a qualification in first aid and
children at least level 3 since they will be dealing with young children and there could be injuries
that could take place. The children’s representative will have to work for long hours with different
age groups of children. They will need to have welcome meeting where they will get to know the
