Recommendations for South Essex College “My Day”
for students
In this report, I will be making well thought out and justified recommendations that South Essex
College could be using to significantly improve their relationship between themselves and
students/customers. I have been tasked with investigating “MyDay” and to then make justified
recommendations on how South Essex College can improve their relationship between themselves
and students/customers. In order to achieve this, I will give different views from different
perspectives so that all can be taken into consideration.

The first recommendation I will be making, is that South Essex College gain an insight in to the
students opinions to better understand how they are thinking. The reason this is the first
recommendation is because the students are the ones attending the college and therefore it is very
important to know their needs and views. This should be done rather frequently as you want
updated views on the college; not views from months ago - as opinions and needs change by the
day. This could be a weekly survey that takes place for a short amount of time during tutorial. They
could also take this a step further and change the surveys based on certain factors such as what year
they are in and based on what course they are taking. First year students might have a different
outlook to second year students, such as struggling in certain situations that second year students
wouldn’t. Therefore changing the survey is likely to receive more accurate feedback and enable
South Essex College to meet the students exact needs.

My second recommendation, is to work on improving relationships with the teachers so that they
are better equipped on building better relationships with the students; the overall goal is to improve
the learning of students and teachers are the ones who are largely responsible for this. If teachers
are able to create a comfortable and positive learning space, they are able to engage the students
and nurture the best work put of them possible which benefits everyone. This can be accomplished
by things such as teachers giving useful feedback with suggestions for improvement; taking time to
ensure no student feels left out of the learning and being prepared to take different approaches with
teaching so that all students can benefit and take in what’s being taught. This effectively is a form of
relationship marketing because if one student had a good experience in a certain college, it becomes
very likely that they will recommend the college to their parents for their younger siblings or possibly
other family members considering a college.

In conclusion, I believe the key to improving South Essex College’s “My Day” for students is by
Improving relationships with both students and teachers. Relationship marketing is entirely the
foundation needed to build bonds and maintain relationships that boost the academic progress of all
the students and if the college work hard at this it will benefit them majorly.
