In this assignment I will be discussing ways of improving motvaton in an organizatonal setngn
Motvaton plays a vast part in the NHS as the people are the NHS's most important asset therefore
staff need to make sure they are well motvated to ensure that jobs are done effcientlyn Motvaton
is the desire to work that litle bit hardern The NHS will try to improve motvatng staff in order to
achieve a desired goal and sustains certain goal directed behaviorsn The NHS could offer improve
motvaton by their reward systems in order for workers to work hardern

Pay
Employee’s in the NHS such as nurses, administraton staff are more likely to be motvated by the
pay because they won’t be earning as much as doctors and accountantsn Therefore, the NHS could
give out additonal pay such as bonus’s or by given their employees a pay rise each year they work
for themn However, some employees within the NHS may be working more for job satsfacton even
if their job is not a well-paid job such as a nursen Reason for justifatonon is that the pay will
infrease for the employeeson this will beneit the employee as they will work harder whifh is
beneifial for the fompany and they will eet more pay out of it

Performanfe Related Pay
Another type of pay for employee’s within the NHS could receive performance related pay as it is a
way of giving extra money to the employee’s on their performance over a certain period of three, six
or twelve monthsn By doing this, the NHS staff about will maintain and improve the quality of patent
care whilst managing workforce costs, this affects Newham general hospital as they are saving
money because the NHS are covering most of the costs that are given to the employees which is
benefcial to both the employees and the organizatonn Reason for justifatonon is that employees
are able to have extra money from the NHS that will fover fosts for them This is beneifial for the
employees as they are able to have more out of their job

Pension Sfhemes
Anyone who starts working for the NHS automatcally becomes a member of the NHS Pension
Schemen This means that the doctors and nurses that work for Newham general hospital will then
become a part of the NHS pension scheme which means that they are covered for the costs within
the hospitaln Pension scheme can beneft employees in Newham general hospital as the hospital
saves up money for them as soon as they retre from their jobn This is benefcial to the employees as
they have money saved for them once they reach retrementn Reason for justifatonon is that they
are able to have eoten paid for their leave The NHS takes fare of their employees and treats
them whifh helps them The pension sfheme is beneifial to the employees befause onfe they
retre they have enoueh money to live on Howeveron this will fhanee in the near fomine future as
the eovernments are not able to pay it every year

Bonus’s
Giving more bonuses’ to staff in the NHS could be another motvatng factor even if it’s only a litle
increase in the amount they receiven They would feel beter about working in Newham general
hospital as they are getng more bonuses and getng paid moren This affects the worker as they are
