Letter
Dear John,
I’m writing to you as you want to know more about how Thorpe Park recruits, as you want to apply
there.
As you already know, Thorpe Park is a theme park located in between the towns of Chertsey and
Staines, Surrey. Thorpe Park was built in the 1970s on the gravel pit which was partially flooded,
creating a water-based theme for the park. This essentially allows guests to view the park as an island,
which is where the "island like no other" slogan originates from. It was officially opened to the public
in 1979.
The park is mainly geared towards a young adult/teenage audience due to the vast majority of
signature attractions being roller coasters and thrill rides.
The goals and objectives of Thorpe Park are:
- to be focused on launching the Derren Brown’s Ghost Train: Rise of The Demon
- developing and maintaining their core products
- focus on maintaining high customer satisfaction
- reconnecting with the teenage and young adult market
Well John, now I’m going to explain you how they recruit and the different type of jobs there are
available at the moment and you can apply for.
I’ve been searching about Thorpe Park and I have found out that the quickest way to get an interview
with them is applying online.
First of all, Thorpe Park identifies the vacancies available and they write a job description and the
specification of the person that they are looking for. After that, they advertise it through their main
web page or social media, where you can apply online. When you are applying for the job you will be
able to attach your CV. Once done, if they are interested in you, they will contact within’ one week,
but the normal process can take up to 2-4 weeks. There are around 20 people in total, split into
groups of 5/6 around tables. Then, they introduce the values of the company followed by completing
some group activities, and after that, a numeracy test (depending on what job you’ve applied for).
Also, there are around 10 team leaders/managers/supervisors overseeing the group activities.
After completing the tests, they make you a one-to-one interview, and those who were successful at
this anterior stage were told that they would let them know within’ seven days if they had gotten the
job or not. Employees at Thorpe Park must have a great attitude. As a team, they strive to create
memorable experiences for guests, and they want you to be part of the fun too!
Hope this is useful for you,
Kind Regards
