For most entrepreneurs, building and maintaining a local customer base is one of the first
steps on the road to success. Becoming a global company is an impressive feat, and not every
business that sets out to do it accomplishes the goal.
Internal expansion occurs when a company is able to increase business operations without
outside activities. It is also called organic growth.
Support available to help businesses with international expansion:
Domestic government (UK government) - Grants or subsidy to help you export. It cut costs
and makes the company more efficient and competitive, because you’re helping their
economy and you’re creating new jobs as well.
“Grant for Business Investment (GBI) is a discretionary scheme that provides a capital grant
to businesses to support sustainable investment in England. Its aim is to help businesses
expand, modernise or diversify.” The GBI scheme is closed to new applicants. Offers of
support made under the scheme over the period 2008 to 2014 will continue to be honoured,
payments made and grant conditions monitored.
Host countries government – Host country governments will often offer incentives to firms
in the form of grants, subsidies and tax breaks to attract investment into their countries. These
firms will improve the balance of payments, they will also provide employment and new
resources and technology.
British chamber commerce - Trade body which represents British industry abroad. They are
going to be increasingly important to sell globally, due to Brexit.

aspects of dealers’ businesses. They could support Aston Martin by giving advice on how the
Brexit would have an impact on them. They provide support and assistance to dealers with
financial planning, tax issues, dealer systems and general business advice. The RMI holds
