Increased regulation on emissions

As recently Volkswagen has had a scandal about their cheating on the emissions produced on their
cars, the regulation of these has increased as they don’t want to create more pollutants to the air and
damage even more the environment. Volkswagen has responded to this by creating new diesel cars,
which are less pollutants with brand new engines and creating electric models. Also, they’ve repaired
all the damaged cars and they’ve introduced in them the latest technology to meet the standards and
expectations. Governments have now introduced new regulations which will be changed in a few
years. This has led Volkswagen too produce new vehicles which are much lower in emissions using
innovative ideas to create new technology which enables Volkswagen meet these new regulations.

Advantages

An advantage for the increased regulation on emissions would be that no more companies will cheat.
Government is ensuring that general public is safe, especially in cities in the UK such as London,
Manchester, etc. This will also mean that Volkswagen will have to produce cars which produce lower
emissions, or new models such as the electric ones, to meet the standards. Another advantage for this,
will be that the environment will be more protected as not only Volkswagen but all the auto
manufacturers will have to use innovate ideas to create new technology that will enable them to meet
the new regulations, especially Volkswagen.

Disadvantages

A disadvantage for this, will be that Volkswagen will be paying high fees for the recent scandal
(billions), which will therefore mean that they won’t have as much capital as before to invest in new
vehicles, ideas or technology. Another disadvantage for this, will be that if Volkswagen doesn’t meet
those standards, customers will switch to other brands which will therefore mean that Volkswagen
will have less capital and customers to run the business, and they won’t be able to sell as much
vehicles as before, apart from paying more fees.

Competitors developing electric cars

China is one of the more advanced countries in technology for cars, and if Volkswagen doesn’t keep
up with the technology in their cars, it will be very difficult for them to recover and keep up their
position in all the markets. Also, if they are not able to have the latest technology, they will not be able
to make more profits to invest in new ideas, that’s why Volkswagen has been developing new electric
cars, such as the up model and e-up. The e-up car with has a similar look with the car which more
sales has brought to the company, the Volkswagen golf and they’re mixing the past with the future to
bring the best from them and recover their reputation and increase their sales.

Advantages

An advantage for competitors developing electric cars will be that new efficient and environment
friendly cars are produced, and therefore this means that they will have no impact in the
environment, they will not hurt the environment in any way. Another advantage for this, will be that
Volkswagen will have the opportunity to show that their vehicles are the best ones in the market,
and these new models are what people need to buy in order to contribute and make a change in
earth.
