how organisations use information.
Data VS Information
Qualitative.
This is data which is used to describe information by giving your own opinion. Qualitative data
can’t be measured in the same way as quantities so it is used in a narrative form and can only be
observed with descriptions. For example, in a questionnaire they may ask a question and then
have a box for more information below. An advantage to Qualitative is that it is more descriptive
however a disadvantage is that it can be time consuming as people will need to spend time
looking through it.

Quantitative.
This is information that can be measured and proven with facts. It is measured in numbers for
example the, if questionnaires have check boxes for strongly agree, agree, disagree and strongly
disagree then they would be able to use an automated method to tally up all the answers for each
one allowing then to see the overall view of their audience. An advantage to Quantitative is that it
can calculate data automatically. A disadvantage to this is that it isn’t very descriptive for example
if a questionnaire asked if you feel safe with a check box then they wouldn’t know why you felt
that way.

Data.
This is raw figures and facts that haven’t been processed yet for example, numbers, times and
weights. Data are numbers that have no meaning to them whereas information has meaning.
