Factors When Creating Animation
Download speed

The downloading of the animation depends on the file size of the animation. The smaller the
file size the faster the animation will be downloaded from the web. Even with slow internet
speeds the animation can be downloaded giving a benefit for slow internet speed users.

File size

The file size of the animation can be altered hugely. When the animation is compressed, this
reduces the size of the animation by a huge amount. Changing the content of the animation
itself, using smaller file sized animations can decrease the file size. The coloured used for
the animation can reduce the file size such as using an 8 bit colours instead of using 16 bit
colours. Sometimes the amount of colour put into the animation might be redundant
therefore changing the colour bit can reduce the file size. Within the animation, things like
fonts can be kept the same instead of using a variety of fonts. Keeping the same font with a
low file size can help reduce the overall file size. By changing the file type of the animation
could lead into a smaller file size. Different file types use different compression techniques
and some are better than others giving a smaller file size.

Compatibility

When an animation is created not all the coding is the same as others. Some animations are
created to work differently with software. Some run better than others. For example of this
would be Adobe flash files. Adobe flash files need a flash player plug in for the animation to
run. Without the flash player plug in the animation simply would not run. This is a download
for animations created using Adobe flash files.

Email attachments and e-cards
One use for animation is to attach them in emails and add them in e-cards. In emails,
animation can be used to create entertaining jokes, future aspirations or other distractions.
This can then be passed on to other people through email. Businesses have seen this as an
advantage and have used this to advertise their products through email. By using animation
to advertise the product, this can catch the eye of the customer.

E-cards are used via email in place of tradition. E-cards are small animation based cards,
showing a greeting of an event. This can be a card saying ‘Goodbye’ or ‘Happy Birthday’.

This is Christmas e-card. During
Christmas, this e-card would be
sent from friends via email. Then
this message can be forwarded
to other friends.
