Introduction
In this Assignment I am going to describe how to build cohesive teams that perform
well and explain how targets are set and team performance are monitored.
Cohesion
Cohesion is when different team members come together to be able to achieve a
certain task.
The procedure for creating a team
Recruitment-
The recruitment process involves identifying the skills, qualities and competences
that will be required in potential team members. From the job analysis, a person
specification will be drawn setting out all the qualifications and qualities needed by a
new team member. It is important that this is performed so then organisations will
hire the people that has everything that the organisation need in their employees.
Induction and training-
The business would need to coach and train the candidates after recruiting them.
The first steps to a successful recruitment is recruiting and selecting people who will
make good team members. By training and mentoring them it will help them to
perform better in teams in order to have a good high-performance team.
Coaching and mentoring-
Coaching and mentoring are development techniques based on the use of one-to-
one discussions to enhance an individual’s skills, knowledge or work performance.
The purpose of coaching is to improve the individual's performance on the job. This
involves either enhancing current skills or acquiring new skills.
Mentoring involves the use of the same models and skills of questioning, listening,
clarifying and reframing associated with coaching. Its purpose is to develop the
individual not only for the current job, but also for the future
Performing in a team-
Forming-In the first stage the team meets and learns about the opportunities and
challenges, and then agrees on goals and begins to tackle the tasks. Team
members normally behave quite independently.
Storming- Next, the team moves into the storming phase, where people start to be
against the boundaries established in the forming stage. This is the stage where
many teams fail.
Storming often starts where there is a conflict between team members working styles
