Web authoring tools are software that provide basic facilities to create
webpages, with a range of tools for designing a web page such as ready-
made templates and the use of CSS (cascading style sheets; the code
language used to decorate webpages). This allows sites to be produced
without the full necessity of having to know HTML and other languages so
anyone with basic IT capabilities can create one. Authoring tools include
Microsoft Expression Web and Adobe Dreamweaver.
Database Systems
E-commerce websites will have a database that is needed to store
customer details, the catalogue of products and other business
information so it controls the data in various ways. This can be created
through applications and software like Oracle or coding languages such as
MySQL.
Web servers:
Web servers hold the live copy of the web page
which can accessed by anyone on the internet,
when anyone enters the site’s URL, it request the
domain name and IP address from the web
servers, which provides with the website’s data.
A server can be brought or stored on another’s
server for a price.
Server software:
There are several server software including Internet information services (IIS),
that comes bundled with Windows OS. There are programs/software that
makes it more user friendly and easier to upload webpages to existing web-
sites such as file transfer protocol (FTP).
