Business Communication
In this assignment I will explain the different types of business information, their sources and
purposes.
Types of information:
Verbal Information:
Verbal information is a way to communicate with a company’s suppliers, employees,
customers, stakeholders, managers, etc, through meetings, conferences, by phone, or face-
to-face.
I think verbal communication is the best way to communicate because it is less scope for
misunderstanding, it allows for verbal and non-verbal communication, the director can see or
hear the person’s feed-back in terms of feelings or reactions and also it is the fastest way of
communication.
Telephone conversation it is also a good way to communicate when persons are abroad, or
not able to meet the company’s staff.
Written Information:
Written information can be words, diagrams, graphs, charts etc. and come from a wide variety
of sources like newspapers, books, trade journals, government publications.
Written Information can be:
- On-screen Information:
Is represented by the information which is produced on screen. This can be seen in
multimedia TV and CD-ROMs that combine text, graphs, animation, audio and video. Ex: e-
mail, TV advertising, text messages, Skype, etc.
- Multimedia Information:
Multimedia represents multiple forms of media integrated together. Media can be a text,
an graph, video, data and so on. Multimedia can also stand for interactive media, such as
video games, CD-ROMs, or an information kiosk in large cities. An example of multimedia
information could be a webpage with interactive guide and narration.
- Web-Based Information:
Refers to the information received and read wherever and whenever in the whole world.
This is an advantage for many people because they can access any web-site from all over
the world.
Examples of web-based information can be social-media like Instagram, Facebook,
Youtube, etc.
