INJURY
MANAGEMENT
ASSIGNMENT 1
,TASK 1A
, Injuries that happen when too much stress is placed on a particular part of the body is
defined as overuse injuries (or repetitive stress injuries). The injuries are common wo
related injuries, often impacting individuals that spend long durations of time using
computers and other devices or because of repeated participation in a certain sporting
exercise movement which places stress on an area of the body. Injuries can happen if t
body has not had enough time to heel in-between training sessions. My five chosen ov
injuries are; blisters (skin), chrondropathy (articular cartilage), stress fracture (bone), c
compartment syndrome (muscle) and inflammation (ligament).
Acute injuries are normally unexpected and very critical. These type of injuries tend t
happen due of unforeseen forces. It is usually related with distressing events in sports
as a players clashing into each other or a fall from a bike leading to acute injures
such as sprained ankles, fractured hands and strained backs. Acute injury is normally t
outcome of a particular impact or traumatic event that happens in one area of the bod
as breaking a bone, tearing a muscle or injury to a joint. Immediate medical attention
is commonly the results gained when an individual gets acute pain received from an in
My chosen acute injuries are; dislocation (joint), traumatic bursitis (bursa), haematoma
(muscle), tendinitis (tendon) and laceration (skin).
Mechanisms of injury:
The force or forces at which an injury is caused when it happens to the human body is wh
mechanism of injury is defined as.
Despite there being many different mechanism of injury, trauma can be grouped into thre
general areas: blunt, penetrating and decelerating trauma. There are some similarities in
outcomes, causes and body's response to the different types of injuries.
, Also known as non-penetrating trauma, blunt trauma is any injury that happens to the bo
through forceful impacts such as falls or physical attack with dull objects.
Penetrating trauma is an injury that is caused by the piercing of objects to the skin or bo
The damage causes harm to underlying tissues and leads to open wounds.
Decelerating trauma is a common type of injury that mostly affects the brain. It is a type
traumatic brain injury that happens when the body is unable to take forceful impacts.
