Unit 7 – Business Decision Making - Structure (Report)

, Unit 7 – Business Decision Making - Exam

Section 1: Introduction
 If you want to have a better understanding of this unit or get access to
other resources related to this unit, check out our website:
https://www.btecbguide.com
 As always you need to give an introduction so that the examiner/reader
understands what they are reading about. Sentence starters:
o In this report, I am going to be advising a client who has asked me to
recommend...
o The business objective is to…
o I will be evaluating and analysing these two options…

Section 2: Market Analysis
 You need to collect and analyse each the market data from the exam paper
o For instance, you can say that the market data you have collected
creates an opportunity or a threat to the business

For example:
The average UK household spends £150 on plants every year and the UK
horticulture market is worth approximately £25 billion annually. This indicates that the
market is popular in the UK and numerous people spend a lot on horticulture
products in the UK depending on the time of the year therefore, this creates an
opportunity since there’s a steady trend within the market.

Section 3: Financial information on both options
 Remember you need to gather and analyse financial data for both
options!
 Remember, you need to show your calculations!

 You need to use the financial data from the exam paper to conduct:
o Liquidity ratio
 Current ratio
 Acid test ratio
o Profitability ratio
 Gross Profit Margin
 Net Profit Margin
 Mark up Profit
 Return on Capital Employed

 You can also create financial statements (such as cash-flow forecast and
income statements) however this can be time-consuming!
