,Introduction

Our group created a visual, promotional display which is according to the wishes of the company
– Pura Cosmetics. Our display is suitable for the approaching Christmas period with specific periods
(a special Christmas tree being built of boxes wrapped in paper with the company’s brand name and
colours; Christmas decorations etc.). We had a discussion and we decided that our display focuses
on the Gift Sets that are the best-selling product of the company Pura Cosmetics in this period, being
the ideal gift for young woman (their target market). Also, we considered their Lip Balms (very
hydrating) and Tinted Lip Balms (their newest products, hydrating and a wonderful colour). In
addition, we created a mood board for expressing our creative decisions, according with the
company’s values, their specific colours, as well as, their presence on their website and social media
accounts.

We researched different Visual Merchandising techniques and created a realistic plan for our
display for Pura Cosmetics, then we created our 3D Visual Merchandising Display and we assessed
the success of our project, using recommendation and feedback we have received from team
members, teachers, visitors. Additionally, we showed individual self-management, initiative,
creativity and attention to detail, essential skills in achieving the success.

, Detailed Plan

Research

Pura Cosmetics is a cosmetics business which focuses on skin health and reducing the impact of
plastic on the environment. The company has very clear values: vegan and cruelty-free products;
ingredient 100% natural and plastic free.

There are a wide range of beauty trends and, in order to be successful, to have satisfied customers
and to save the environment, Pura Cosmetics keeps up with the most important of them:

• Customers interested in environmental protection are looking for zero waste and plastic-
free makeup products, because cosmetic packaging is one of the hardest products to be
recycled. Pura Cosmetic use only glass, metal, carton packaging, avoiding plastic as much as
possible, putting environmental protection first.
• Vegan and Cruelty- free products – Pura Cosmetics products do not contain ingredients of
animal origin and are not tested on animals, a particularly important thing during this period
when vegan lifestyle grow.
• 100% natural and highly moisturizing – People understand the importance of having
hydrated skin and the best option is to use cosmetics made from 100% natural ingredients.
They are aware that it is important to know what the products they apply to the skin
contain, these having a great impact both of them and on the environment.

We started to research a wide range of Visual Merchandising techniques in order to find the most
suitable ones for our display. We want to take into account what effect all these techniques will have
over the customers (to attract their attention, to make them buy the products in order to increase
the sales and the profit for our business). For this reason, we created an album research in order to
get some more ideas about different techniques we can use in our 3D VM Display, each of us
contributing with different images and ideas to the album. We later merged our ideas in what the
group research album with any potential annotations or notes included in it. In the initial stages of
working together our team leader for design and creation led the brainstorming. We each gave our
ideas and worked off them discussing their merits and demerits before coming up with a concrete
design and a coherent plan following our research

Also, we thought about what techniques will be appropriate for the types of products that we will
display, for the needs and wants of our customer and also based on the resources we have in the
College or we can bring from home.
