Unit 4 Assignment 2
Investigate the feasibility of a proposed event and determine common success
factors.
Introduction
In this assignment, I will be discussing three events these events have been allocated in different sizes.
Such as small, medium, and large I will be talking about their success and how they have influenced this
modern age, by this I mean their overall market and what their profits and revenue is like. Furthermore, I
will have my own individual plan, however, my peers will keep the events the same. I will include key
factors, planning and of course a risk assessment.
Event 1
The 2016 Rio Olympics
As I begin to discuss about the Rio 216 Olympics, I should
mention the birthplace of such an event. The first event was
held back in Athens in 1896. The Olympics have been admired
and have benefited communities and have impacted hugely on
people's lives. This event can not only attract people on live
televisions but acts like a huge benefactor to the host of a city.
Since 1896 there have been 31 Olympic games held, however
nd
the 32 event was supposed to be held in 2020 but has been postponed due to the global pandemic. The
impact of such an event leaves a story and generates a positive legacy. 1 By legacy I refer to the
remembrance of such an event and the sense of togetherness and the so-called success story of the
summer Olympics plan. Multiple success factors contributed to the Summer Rio Olympics such as the
2
perfect atmosphere for the city and the athletes participating, they generated such compassion and love
for the sport.
The Brazilian people built and encouraged the athlete to perform in such high standards. Another success
factor was that Rio de Janeiro was also the first Southern American city to host the Olympics. Huge

, millstones were reached, almost half of the world's population attended the coverage of the games 3.
Furthermore, it achieved the greatest number of women athletes of all time (45%) 4 , with women
competing in all sports for the second consecutive time5 . Another
success factor because of the Olympics was the short rise `of
employment which helped the economy and sustain some sort of
balance. Furthermore, the infrastructure and buildings needed to
host such a large event improved local commerce and businesses
which received thousands of new customers and had also given Rio
a much-needed uplift.
Both economically and socially with the reputation of the city being improved with the prestige of being a
city which hosted an international event.
However, leading into the event construction was at a halt due to health and safety measures and not only
this, but the week leading into the event the outbreak of the zika virus started to arise leaving the public
and political power there in doubt. Multiple other issues emerged such as the economy and hygiene. 6
However, the event still went on, the mayor of Rio stated ‘We have built a fantastic legacy for this city
which was possible by the Olympics’iiiiii7 but could this be their downfall too. 5 months after the event was
held there so called “legacy plan” lay in ruins8 as Rio and the nation fell into crippling debt.
In addition to this the planners of the event did not account for Rios highly dense population some of
which located in slums and shantytowns called favelas, as a result of this lack of foresight many people
were forcibly evicted which resulted in bloody fights breaking out between law enforcement and people
who were being forced out of their homes due to the need for constructing massive stadiums and
infrastructure needed for an event, they saw that only benefitted the rich rather than them.
Event 2
iPhone 12 launch
Apples whole appeal and what it does best is its simple yet modern style when designing and marketing its
products. The iPhone 12 launch event overcame and adapted to the issues of the time which continue to
this day that being the Covid-19 pandemic. What allowed it to be feasible and even happen was Apple’s
ability to overcome problems and it already being a tech company meant a lot of what was done was
