Detailed AQA A-Level History notes covering Henry VII’s government, his consolidation of power and the establishment of the Tudor dynasty. I created these notes myself during my A-Level History studies and used them as part of my main revision resources to achieve an A* in A-Level History. They are designed specifically for AQA Component 1C: The Tudors – England, 1485–1603. The notes examine how Henry VII established and maintained royal authority following the Battle of Bosworth. They cover the structure and operation of his government, his management of the nobility and the different methods used to strengthen the monarchy. Key areas include: • Henry VII’s accession and consolidation of power • Establishing the legitimacy of the Tudor dynasty • Threats from rival claimants and pretenders • Lambert Simnel and Perkin Warbeck • Henry VII’s relationship with the nobility • Acts of Attainder, bonds and recognisances • The Royal Council and Council Learned in the Law • Parliament and royal government • Local and regional government • Justices of the Peace • The strengthening of royal authority • Henry VII’s financial policies and methods of control • Relevant rebellions and challenges to Tudor rule • Analysis of how effective Henry VII’s government was The document contains detailed factual evidence, explanations, analytical arguments and balanced evaluation that can be applied to AQA essay questions and historical interpretation questions. These notes are entirely my own work. This resource is not produced or endorsed by AQA, and purchasing it does not guarantee a particular grade.
