Content preview

Aaron Nahar - 278262

In this task I will be looking at the features of different business and what makes them
successful, the two businesses I will be looking at are Apple and Oxfam.

P1 - Features of two contrasting businesses
Apple Inc is the world's largest company. They are a hardware and software company and they
have expanded rapidly and are still improving. Apple have a range of products such as
computers, mobile phones, Ipad's, IPod’s and many more. They have an organizational culture
for creative innovation. The company’s features revolve around creating a very high level of
innovation and the ability to stand out. Apple focus on creativity, high class products, innovation
secrecy and moderate combativeness. Apple’s combination of top-notch excellence, innovation
and creativity makes apple unique and keeps them on the top ahead of its competitors. It
strengthens their brand image. In addition, their rapid production rate is one of the strongest
strengths for this company.
Oxfam is a global non-profit organization working to end poverty. Oxfam has over 75 years of
experience. Last year Oxfam worked with 3,663 partner organizations in more than 90
countries. Oxfam’s purpose is to find ways for people to overcome poverty and transform their
lives. The charity saves lives, they are a helping hand for the unfortunate. The charity uses
fundraising events, donations, world food event, clothes swap and many more methods to raise
money for the homeless.

P2/M1 - Influence/relationship and communication of 4 stakeholders
Apple - Stakeholders play a huge part in the success of Apple. The success of Apple is partly
because of their ability to satisfy stakeholders. Apples stakeholder groups are very demanding
this translates to the company's social responsibility which influences Apple to be very
responsive and to keep up with rapid production as well as overall firm Performance. The
stakeholders also affect Apple in terms of the sales revenue and customer perception. Apple
has a very responsive and holistic approach towards their stakeholders, the relationship
between the two is very reflective. For instance, Apple are constantly satisfying their
stakeholders and they are constantly improving apple. For this reason, Apple are very
successful. Apples 4 most significant stakeholders are the consumers, employees, investors
and suppliers.

Firstly, Apples customers are number one priority when talking about stakeholders. Of course,
due to the fact they are the reason for Apples success since they buy the product’s, but they
also receive customer satisfaction from Apple. The company ensures the customers have a
unique and unforgettable experience when buying an Apple product. This is done through face
to face interactions and putting the customer first. This is to encourage long term relationship
with the consumers. Apple do this very well through corporate social responsibility. The
customers want well-structured effective products with a reasonable price. Apple provides this

although the products are highly priced, many people still buy them. The technique used is
called premium pricing. The price reflects on the quality and stylish effect of the products.
In addition, Apples employee's play a huge role in Apples role to corporate social responsibility.
The stakeholder group is based in the Apple stores. They influence the company's brand image
and affect the sales. This is a huge reason of their success. The interest of this stakeholder
group is to boost career development and compensation. The employees may also play a role
in the designing of a profitable product. Apple’s “suppliers employ more than 1.5 million people
in 20 countries and every one of those people is treated with dignity and respect”. Apple
communicate closely with them by weekly reporting, management, feedback (complaints),
24hour Apple team and Interviews. These are internal ways of their close communication. It
keeps the company in check and ensures a close relationship which reflects on the brand image
and holds Apples reputation.
Furthermore, Investors are also a major stakeholder for Apple. Their interest involves making a
profit on their investment. Apple satisfies this stakeholder group due to their major profit
margins. The company avoids debt which means the investors are guaranteed a return. They
are also important to Apple since they help with the large funding of the business.
Suppliers are vital to Apples success. The manufacturing of the high-quality products is
produced by the suppliers. They play a part in the enhancement of the company’s reputation
and affect their brand image effectively. Therefore, Apple works closely with their suppliers and
they are prioritized. If a wrong decision or mistake is made it can hurt the company vastly.

Oxfam - Oxfam Stakeholders have a huge impact the business. The stakeholders affect the
business efficiency, profits, working environment and reaching the aims and objectives. Oxfam
prioritizes each stakeholder as much as possible in order to reach its aims and objectives.

Employees /Volunteers: An individual that works for Oxfam and is employed by the employee,
they can work either part time or full time. They are interested in fair pay and having their voice
heard. They are the main reason the charity is successful. They provide the friendly customer
service to those who shop at the Oxfam stores. They also have views on how they want the
business to run and corporate ideas. Employees can have their points of views considered in
AGMs (Annual General Meetings), these meetings consist of the managers and board of
directors listening to your views. On the other hand, volunteers work for Oxfam but not for
money. They do not earn salary or wages. A downfall may arise if a volunteer of Oxfam is not
happy with the working conditions and does not turn up to work. This could hurt the company's
reputation and stop them from achieving aims such as providing for the homeless. Therefore, it
is important for the business to listen to the employees as soon as they start complaints and
ideas. Building a relationship is heathy for this business. It reflects to their brand image.
Non-governmental organizations/ Trade Unions – Oxfam usually link up with non-
governmental organizations/ Trade Unions in response to concerns and problems. Oxfam
gathers information about what people want and what the future may hold for instance events.
This may help them to reach their aims and objectives as well as raise more money.
