Tasks and goals are becoming more complex and need more expertise. Tasks
also are starting to reflect the need for more interdependence. Under these
conditions, teams genrally outperform individuals.
Potential drawbacks to teams
Coordination costs are always present. (Time constraints, communication
barriers, conflict, groupthink, etc). Effective leadership requires management
of the costs (costs lower than benefits)
