RESOURCE CHARACTERISTICS
1. Discuss the overall information.
a. Title/Edition/URL All learning is social and emotional: Helping students develop
essential skills for the classroom and beyond

e. Strengths The book gives many real-life examples, strategies, and
suggestions on ways to integrate social and emotional learning in
the classroom. The authors discuss the need to build a fair
learning space, making sure that SEL practices are welcoming
and considerate for all cultures (Frey et al., 2019). It is evidence-
based to support its suggestions, which makes its content relevant
and credible. Some suggestions that they use to create an SEL
school (Prothero, 2022).
f. Weaknesses The book may have some readers feel that it focuses too heavily
on theory, offering less practice and step-by-step guidance for
putting ideas into action (Frey et al., 2019). The wide range of
topics may be a bit overwhelming for educators who prefer a
more focused approach to social and emotional learning
2. Think about language concerns.
a. Use of phonics The book uses clear and simple language, steering clear of
complicated terms that could make readers feel left out. Although
it doesn't specifically target phonics, the easy-to-read writing
makes the content friendly for many people, even those who
might not know much about SEL. The vocabulary fits well in a
learning environment, with terms related to SEL clearly presented
and explained.

for educators, administrators, and parents to understand. This
makes it a useful resource for everyone.
c. Vocabulary usage With SEL-related terms presented and explained in an
understandable manner, the vocabulary is well suited for a
learning environment.
