A Top-Notch HealthCare Transformation with Ochsner Hospital
A. Goals and Rationale
1. Explain key goals for the affiliation and specific criteria a candidate affiliate must
meet.
Twin Pines Medical Center's (TPMC) number one priority is to improve specialized
care, such as oncology, endocrinology, and behavioral health (Weiner et al., 2006).
The outpatient department will need to expand the use of telemedicine innovations,
which could enhance the financial stability of the day-to-day operations.
TPMC criteria candidate affiliates seek individuals with an extensive background in
specialties and exceptional financial and operational skills. The candidate should be
passionate about serving the community and population health management.
2. Identify three specific advantages a well-aligned affiliation would provide for TPMC.
1. Access to specialized services will allow TPMC to fill the void of specialties like
oncology and behavioral health that will meet the needs of communities
2. enhanced technology and infrastructure
3. Implementing digital technologies allows allocation to be shared with other
resources, reducing risk through economies of scale and stabilizing financial assets
(Weiner et al., 2006).
3. Analyze the current state of TPMC and the projected market segmentation for TPMC
anticipated from the proposed affiliation. Your analysis must be supported by
demographic data and include the following elements:
The current state of TPMC is that it is a community medical facility that offers essential
acute and emergency care, limited specialty services, and dated equipment in some
departments. Smith (2022) discussed the needs of some areas requiring a high
percentage of geriatric and chronic disease care. Based on the current analysis, TPMC
patients rely on the emergency room for patient care because of a lack of specialized
care, which results in financial issues and a lack of funds in other departments in the
hospital and limits providers' training and quality care.
Age groups categorize regions to address pediatric, adult, and geriatric needs. Regions
with a younger demographic require robust maternity and pediatric care (Weiner et al.,
2006). TPMC and OH identify direct competitors within a 20-mile radius and assess
their service strengths and weaknesses (Weiner et al., 2006). Using the SWOT analysis
to determine opportunities to differentiate TPMC, such as telehealth or 24/7 urgent care
availability, would minimize issues (Weiner et al., 2006).
