HISTORIES AND CULTURES OF OCEANIA
A Pacific Islander is a person who is connected to the Islands and
cultures of Oceania, they are people who withstand the ongoing last thoughts,
forgotten histories, and completely unique culture. Unlike other continents
and their countries: where history is taught, and modern struggles are
addressed. For a Pacific Islander, this isn’t the case. With the geological
location of Oceanic countries, they were often found to be the leading victims
to Missionization, Militarization, and Colonialism. This has resulted in
continued struggles for immigration for Pacific Islanders and for their social
rights in their respected new lands. (That they have immigrated to.) I think
that this has also led to the insecurity of “loud” or large cultural pride and
confidence for Pacific Islanders living in America. This means that a lot of
people are conditioned by social structures and history to feel smaller and
wrong when it comes to their opinion in countries that are not their origin. I
think that this keeps the “White (or the power) are typically right” culture in
the U.S.. I find this keeps American social culture that enforces the idea that
, people of color should “check” or report to white people despite their own
confidence or education prior.
Colonialism and history
The European missionaries spread Christianity to the Pacific Islands, a
religion that wasn’t there, and wasn’t naturally going to be there prior. I think
that kept a sub-conscious idea for the missionized countries that they should
associate God, (or whichever deity and religion was brought to them) with
the colonizers. I’m not saying that the colonized and missionized people
made deities or romanticized their colonizers. But, I do believe that this
created a manipulated religious dependency between the missionized and
missionaries. If the Europeans/Americans introduced great God and religion,
that means that not everything they do can be awful. “There are
specific imperial and territorial power relations that the U.S. continues to
maintain in Oceania.” (CRITICAL PACIFIC ISLANDS & OCEANIA

The European contact and spread of diseases also wiped out many of
the Islanders as their bodies were not immune to them, harming the
population's labor availability and ultimately the economy and people. This
