12 Cranial Nerves

1. Olfactory (I): Smell, sensory; identifiable by nose


2. Optic (II): Transmits visual stimuli, sensory; identifiable by retina to occiptal


3. Oculomotor (III): Moves eyes, constricts pupils, sensory nerve; identifiable by innervation of skeletal muscles,


rectus muscles and inferior oblique, also visible ganglia

4. Trochlear (IV): Moves eye laterally and inferiorally, works superior oblique muscle, motor; identifiable by


innervation of trochlea to sclera

5. Trigeminal (V): Face sensation and mastication, sensory and motor; identifiable by innvervation of three parts:


maxilla, mandible,

6. Abducens (VI): Prevents double vision, motor; identifiable by innervation of lacteral rectus muscle, and


medulla

7. Facial (VII): Facial expression, taste sensation, sensory and motor; identifiable by five innervations, basically


covers your entire face

8. Vestibulocochlear (VIII): Helps in balance and hearing , sensory; identifiable by vestibule and cochlea,


goes to temporal part of brain, semicircular canals will also be visible
